The Scotsman today has some fascinating numbers. The Edinburgh GDP per capita in 1998 was £18,417 which equates to $30,572 at the then exchange rate. If Edinburgh were an independent country, it would be the
third wealthiest in the world beaten only by Luxembourg and the US. Perhaps it is time for an Edinburgh National Party!
